The latest tag still doesn’t support multiple audio tracks, which might sound niche, but YouTube just rolled out AI dubbed audio tracks, and so Invidious can just play the wrong track and you can’t do anything about it and it’s been this way for about a month.
That being said, it seems that the team’s plan is to put more dev time into changing the back end to video.js so they don’t have to brunt the video retrieval workload, and video.js supports multiple audio tracks as far as I know. I look forward to when that happens, but in the meantime the latest tag is not 100% usable :(
I’ve done this for about 6 months, I’ve had a very mixed experience with Invidious, mostly with YouTube constantly making changes without notice or the video stream not really supporting resuming if the connection breaks briefly.
This isn’t a comment on the Herculean effort the contributors are taking on, but new users should be aware that they need a very reliable connection, update the container regularly, and exercise patience in the current state of Invidious.
This might be an unpopular take here on Lemmy but macOS, Linux or Windows 10 Enterprise LTSC IoT 2021 aren’t for everyone… Hell, I wouldn’t expect typical users to even know how to reinstall their operating system at all.

It’s not about if a company is shafting you then don’t use them. If a company is shafting it’s userbase, it shouldn’t fall squarely on the customers to make a company stop shafting them, it’s legislators and governments with teeth who should do something about it.
Try telling this argument to the team behind Netscape Navigator. Microsoft’s most attractive aspect was using their Windows market share to, in their case, take market share in other submarkets like browsers and word processors. If the customers don’t want to be behind such a dick move, they shouldn’t use it? The government shouldn’t do anything about it?
I do this with Discord and Zoom as an alternative to installing their actual apps. 99% of the functionality is there anyway, and the 1% is stuff I don’t want anyway
I was thinking this, because that’s what Facepunch did when they stopped Linux support. If you had played Rust at all on Linux, regardless of hours, you were eligible for a refund.
My initial thought of an “old” iPhone would be one without Touch ID (square home button), but it’s actually insane to think that a 10 year old iPhone today is the iPhone 6. That iPhone has (had?) 3D Touch, Touch ID, and Apple Pay. Those all still sound like modern features to me.
It’s ridiculous, its enabled by default on any new device you set up and sign in to. I could have missed turning off iCloud on my iMac, but I didn’t have any problems before updating it, and then after I updated it I had iCloud full notifications, so I’m pretty sure it was off.
I’m gonna be honest, for Vaultwarden I don’t. However, a local cached copy of the vault exists on all my devices that are signed in via the official Bitwarden client, and I have recovered using this method before, so that’s my backup strategy.

…then I remembered my fucking iMac seemed to turn on iCloud photo backup last week after updating and next thing I know all the obsolete iPads I get from work are telling me how my iCloud storage is full
Seriously this iCloud shit is on by default, predatory ass tech companies. I’m pretty sure I disabled it on that iMac but it’s so possible that my own device can gaslight me that I’m left unsure. It’s off now and I spent an afternoon removing all those photos.

I just double checked and I have TOTP enabled for my PayPal account so it should be an option.
I just found this support article of theirs and it says it can only be enabled through their website and not through the app (why?!) so you might be running into that?
Yeah, I probably would have gone with that solution if I knew about it at the time, but now that I have Vaultwarden I’m pretty happy with it.
I ran into the same issue, I didn’t want to use a cloud password manager because entrusting literally every password I have to a third party and on the internet sounds absurd to me. KeePass seemed like a good idea for me, but at the time I fell back to syncing the vault by sending it to myself in Telegram any time I made a change. Certainly not ideal
I now just have an RPi self hosting Vaultwarden with Tailscale, and for me that’s been the best solution that keeps me happy; it’s more secure as someone needs to compromise my Tailnet first, it’s not public facing, I’m not trusting a third party to not lose my vault (a la LastPass), but its still convenient.
