AI is not for:
- Therapy
- Tax Filing
- Planning Revenge
- Trying to make you win online arguments
- Trying to make it see things your way, like specific worldviews
- Trying to make it orchestrate protests
- Erotic Roleplay (Grok doesn’t care about it though)

Technology@lemmy.world•‘I want to cancel’: YouTube Premium quietly hikes its US prices for the first time in three years, forcing many users to consider the unthinkableEnglish
38·4 days agoDuh, it’s called downloading them and we’ve been doing that since the late 90s. Enjoying that rock of idiocy you’ve been sleeping under? Do you need streaming services to spoon-feed you content? What a loser.

16·4 days agoTidal is fucking garbage. You mean I have to pay to have songs fully play? The fuck is that about? Bullshit. Only dumbasses who pay for songs to play fully and not 30 second limits are the tools for that platform.

Technology@lemmy.world•‘I want to cancel’: YouTube Premium quietly hikes its US prices for the first time in three years, forcing many users to consider the unthinkableEnglish
23·4 days agoThis article is hilarious.
First off - “Trust among users is waning”. Dude, it’s been waning and most people didn’t trust YouTube Premium in the first place because of years of having watched on YouTube with as little to no advertisements. It was glorious. The fuck are you on about?
Second, the second paragraph in, author is citing Reddit as the source of information. This is to imply that we can’t see price hikes a mile away? When, even if we didn’t, we know services like Netflix has been doing it for a while now and YouTube Premium had a price hike before. But now we need Reddit users to know anything? Fucking lol.
This is a case where just having the headline would’ve been good for us.

Technology@lemmy.world•Time has not been kind to VHS: As tech turns 50, preservationists race to save material stored on vanishing format. Methods include … baking?English
1·7 days agoThe other downside is, is if you play VHS enough time, you’ll get degraded quality by generation. Audio sync issues, video skipping and scattering.

Technology@lemmy.world•Time has not been kind to VHS: As tech turns 50, preservationists race to save material stored on vanishing format. Methods include … baking?English
1·7 days agoSo, everyone is having a slapfight of confusion over the purposes VHS had.
For movies, people were ready as hell when DVD gained ground to change format. DVD has 10 years under VHS, especially when we thought Blu-Ray was going to kill DVD once and for all and when we thought streaming was going to kill it once and for all. But, DVD is going to easily outlast VHS in time. The difference being, VHS was literally ALL we had for its time and for its purpose. DVD, we fall back to because a lot of the other options, like streaming, sucks.
However, for camera and studio use, it took nearly longer, so there is a lot more reluctance.

Play the long game, fake it until politicians or even the President make their tours on bothering visiting the military bases. Hope it’s yours, then throw a grenade at that fucker.

That’s what I’ve been noticing for quite a while. Lemmy slowly became the very thing it tried proposing itself to be better than. But I guess that’s the cost and what happens when you got disgruntled users from Reddit coming here, just to shit up the place just because they either can or that is really how they are everywhere.
Really can’t tell you how many antagonizing users I’ve ran across in all of my attempts to socialize around the fediverse, especially Lemmy. Oh and the power-tripping moderation is alive and well, definitely something from Reddit. It’s almost like Reddit gave them a reason to leave it, just so they’d come here and repeat everything that went wrong.
