I know; as much as I love the concept, I can already see .world soaking up most of the users, which might not be the best thing for federation - but TBF when I came over from Reddit, my main goal was to find something decent and similar, and federation was secondary at best for me; so I’ll see if it gets any worse, but for the moment, the first list definitely overweighs the second “list” for me.

Thanks for the list! As someone who has never used any Twitter-like site before (I guess microblog is the right term…?), and recently made a profile on Bluesky only to support it (I have used it briefly ~3 times since joining): what are the pros of Mastodon that Bluesky doesn’t have?
I’m saying this as a 2 year convert Firefox user: mostly easily replaceable. Sure, I can browse pretty much every page that I can on chrome. However, a few sites don’t work the same way - sometimes because of the site’s conscious decision, sometimes because of Firefox.
Take Facebook, for example. On desktop, I can’t make voice calls anymore from the desktop site. For a while it was possible with non encrypted chats, but now pretty much all of them are encrypted, and FF is not compatible with that. I also can’t watch h265 videos in my chats anymore. I’m still sticking with FF, but I just can’t easily say that FF is just as good for everything (I’m still not going back to chrome).

Without an adblocker, now it’s playing an unskippable, 10+ seconds long ad at the start AND at the end. Some ads are as long as 20 seconds. If the video is long enough, it dares to abruptly play an ad right in the middle. You can’t skip that one, either. We’re back to television content-to-ad ratios - the exact thing I was happy to dump once there was enough content on YouTube. I was patient. That wasn’t enough for them. They can suck a beehive.
Yes! I guess you could be successful with Arabic, too; I know it has its own dialects and accents, but still. Outside of Hungary, the only places you can use it is the border areas in neighbouring countries.
BUT if you talk to a decent Hungarian in their own language they will self immolate from the awe (I would).
I dipped my toe into learning a bit of Polish which is considered damn hard but still not as hard as Hungarian. I noped out after a few weeks, even though I would still love to be able to speak it. I can’t even imagine how much of a pain it could be learning the top5-10 hardest languages like Hungarian.
And, as the LanguageSimp puts it: there’s not much DLC that you can unlock with it.

Oh, we’re past that. In 2022 they made restrictions on wood cutting more lax, allowing felling of trees in previously protected areas. It caused pretty bad health issues in the winter in smaller towns, especially in valleys where the chimney smoke can’t even leave the area.
So way into the 21st century, the government actually promoted heating with wood (partly from previously protected areas), and the next year when solar power gained some popularity, they made it harder and more expensive/less profitable to install solar panels and connect them to the grid. I made a very simple HTML page to count the money for my work. I’ve tried everything and I ended up hosting it just to be able to access it from Firefox. It might work with Android, I don’t know, but on this internet aids MIUI it’s impossible. But MIUI is just some pimped Android so chances are it’s the same.
