My company is absolutely taking advantage of the H1Bs. They just did a huge round of “move to head quarters and take a pay cut or leave with severance”. Anecdotal, but it seemed to mostly target H1Bs. Every single one I know said they basically have to or return home because they don’t know if the government will even function to processes new sponsorships if they found one.

Carnet on Nextcloud is currently the “closest” I’ve found but it needs a ton of TLC. Sharing notes currently only works on the dev build. I keep telling myself I’ll fix it but can’t find the time. If anyone wants some open source contributions the maintainer has asked for help
To add, you may not need to worry too much about setting up a firewall if your machine is behind a router/gateway that also has a firewall. There are arguments both ways, I would suggest researching that some. I did it because I could so why not, but I also only have wireguard exposed publicly so it may be over kill
I too read that it didn’t work with docker but that was not my experience on Ubuntu 24.04. Maybe it’s just docker desktop but I had all sorts of other issues with docker desktop and ditched it for plain docker, using lazydocker for an interface. I think one of the issues for outgoing connections at least is that IPs for the containers can change. I don’t remember exactly what my setup is currently but you shouldn’t have an issue opening up just specific ports mapped to a container while having default deny incoming. Not specific to containers but there are a few different Linux commands to get all ports and the processes listening on them, I used them extensively to debug my firewall setup. I can’t remember them either off the top of my head but you should be able to google for your distro.
It drives me crazy that notes does not reorganize the list when you check things, but that’s probably because it’s just markdown. My wife also refuses to use it. Carnet is the google keep like alternative that I think would work for me, but the sharing isn’t working currently, whenever the note is updated the share is removed.

How are the Spigen case for drops? Is it one type of material or two like the google? I was trying to avoid glass over the camera and just go with a sticker/skin
Magnetic is really important for me, how is that case with drops? I imagine it’s pretty stiff/hard?
So far I love it. I’m maybe 60/40 or 50/50 external to internal. I don’t use a lot of apps though, I mostly stick with doing things through the browser which doesn’t have a lot of issues using up the screen. When I do use the internal screen, it tends to be two apps at once, like podcast player and workout tracker, etc, so again no wasted space. My biggest gripe is the home screens and the taskbar. I had to switch to the Android 14 beta to fix the task bar with third party launchers. The pixel launcher forces too much google down your throat and you can’t have distinct layouts for the external home and internal. I’ve settled on total launcher for now but it has its own minor set of issues. 14 seems to have fixed lot but odd stuff, like the pixel launcher, seem to be missing options foldable wise.
Are you using your router as DNS and DHCP? With Verizon I had a security setting that was blocking public DNS entries to resolving to local addresses. I can’t remember what it’s called, but it’s to prevent a certain type of attack. For a while I disabled it but switching to pihole as DNS, DHCP and using unbound solves it without the security implications
