I feel the same way. I’ve seen the argument that it’s analogous to violence in videogames, but it’s pretty disingenuous since people typically play videogames to have fun and for escapism, whereas with CSAM the person seeking it out is doing so in bad faith. A more apt comparison would be people who go out of their way to hurt animals.

I was about to comment something similar but you said it before I did. Sometimes I’ll mistakenly open YouTube with Chrome and then I realize I messed up because I have to sit through three, sometimes one-minute long ads just to watch a twenty second video. I’ll typically just nope out and switch to Firefox. The worst thing is they’re unskippable and I swear for some of them the ad actually pauses if you switch to another tab or browser. I’m getting ads even on super old videos so I’m pretty sure it isn’t all to do with the channels themselves monetizing their videos.

I’m glad that I don’t use Reddit and have no intention on doing so. I remember there was a very talented artist who was wrongfully accused of using AI and banned on the art subreddit. That artist got banned even though receipts were shown to the mods proving the art was not AI, and I guess with this policy, I’d be at risk of being banned from Reddit altogether because I for sure would’ve upvoted the art if I did have a Reddit account, it was amazing.

It’s been less than a month since he’s been in office and this is a visual representation on how I feel about the whole thing…

It’s extremely disheartening that people such as this are even given the time of day in the first place. It’s even more disheartening when people are getting fired for pointing out the obvious. I couldn’t be more glad to have deleted my Twitter.

It’s really quite scary how many people will believe claims from someone who has no qualifications on the subject just because they are an influencer. Ivermectin works on mites and other parasitic animals by paralyzing their muscles. Following this logic, it would be analogous to claiming that benzodiazepines cured my friend’s broken limb.

Oh I already know about that. The Internet Archive has been dubbed the digital equivalent of the Library of Alexandria before, due to its size, similar purpose, and significance. My comparison was for that reason.

I was wondering why I hadn’t been able to access Internet Archive yesterday… Who would take down what is the digital equivalent to the Library of Alexandria? I can only imagine some really childish people who have nothing better to do with their lives. I hope that the website can recover from the attack soon! 🙏

It’s no different from commissioning an artist to draw for you, except in this scenario it is analogous to the artist turning out to be someone who traces other people’s art without their consent, and claiming you made the picture.
