He’s going to dedupe the social security databases, thinking that he’s screwing over trans people because he thinks they are the only people who change their names… not realizing that the vast majority of married women have at least two names associated with their SSN.
Next thing you know Facebook is going to get rid of Daughter’s Day!
Actually, this is something that should be an open source non-profit.
He’s just a toxic troll, check his comment history there’s nothing of value there. It’s real easy to block users on Lemmy, your online experience will be better off without him.
No, I’m curious to know which words or phrases the last administration wasn’t allowing. My guess is that there isn’t such a list.
Does anyone have a list of words that the new administration is now allowing that the previous administration had blocked?
I suppose we need to punish President Roosevelt for selecting such a terrible place for a civilian airport given the need for so much military air traffic in the general area.
But seriously, people are complaining about ‘why were they practicing at night’ and ‘why were they flying across known traffic lanes’, and the truth is, they do this ALL THE TIME. Why was it different this time? Who knows. I doubt we’ll ever find out the real truth because the current administration isn’t going to actually investigate itself and will just put out a story of what they want the truth to be. But this isn’t the fault of the air traffic controller (from the audio I’ve heard they were in contact with both pilots and were aware of the potential for impact), and it isn’t the fault of some military leader on the ground for sending a helicopter on this route, since it is a very common occurrence. The fault lies with the pilot of the helicopter, but it could be anything from a medical emergency to inattention to suicide.
The pilot has been punished.
Oh, I know, however I wasn’t asking about that, I was asking organizing a strike.
It’s ok, DeepSeek has you covered:
Strike Call-to-Action Script for Workers
[Adjust placeholders as needed, and deliver with conviction and passion.]
Opening Solidarity
“Brothers, sisters, and comrades—we gather today not just as workers, but as the backbone of this company. Without our hands, our minds, and our sweat, this industry stops. Yet for too long, we’ve been met with disrespect, danger, and broken promises. Enough is enough.”
Highlight the Crisis
“Every day, we face hazards that threaten our lives—machinery without safeguards, inadequate protective gear, and managers who turn a blind eye to our safety. We endure wages that barely feed our families, while profits soar for those at the top. We’re forced into endless overtime, robbed of time with our loved ones. This is not dignity—this is exploitation.”
Failed Negotiations
“We’ve tried reason. We’ve handed petitions, attended meetings, and begged for change. But their answer? Empty words. Delays. Silence. They think we’ll accept crumbs forever. They are wrong.”
Why Strike?
"A strike is our power. It’s the language they understand. When our labor stops, their profits stop. This is not a step we take lightly—it’s a step we take together, because we’ve run out of options. Our demands are clear:
Call to Action
“Join me on [DATE] at [TIME] as we walk out united. Meet at [LOCATION] to stand shoulder-to-shoulder. Bring your coworkers, your neighbors, your resolve. If you fear retaliation, remember: Our union is our shield. We’ll protect every one of you.”
Address Fears & Unity
“They may threaten us. They may claim we’re ‘hurting the company.’ But who truly built it? We did. This strike is our legacy—for our children’s futures and the generations before us who fought for the rights we now defend. We are not alone; unions across [COUNTRY/INDUSTRY] stand with us.”
Closing Rally Cry
"Let our strike send a message: We are not machines. We are human beings, and we demand respect. When we fight, we win! Repeat after me: ‘The workers united will never be defeated!’
[Lead chant 3x, growing louder.]
“See you on the picket line. Together, we will prevail!”

Are there any car infotainment systems that aren’t complete shit?
I bought a Subaru over 10 years ago and I didn’t give the infotainment part enough scrutiny when checking it out. I love the way the car drives, but anything dealing with the radio just pisses me off. I don’t even have Starlink.
The way I did it was by using it a lot. If you see someone post something you find interesting, follow that person, interact with their posts, and if you see a post one of your friends will find interesting, send it to them. Another great thing about most (all?) Fediverse apps is that you don’t need an account to view a post. I still have friends who send me Twitter links and I have to let them know that I can’t view it because I don’t have the app or an account, but I still send them Mastodon, Lemmy, Loops and Pixelfed links. I’m not pressuring people into joining, but I’m showing them how I’m using it and let them make their own decision.
Setup an account and start using it. Learn the ins and outs of it, then offer to teach your friends and family who might be interested. Someone has to be the first, then that person has to find their ‘first follower’. It isn’t easy, but with persistence it will pay off
The /s at the end means he was being sarcastic.
Right, which leads me to believe that they are implying that people are talking about the Palestine / Israel situation on other platforms.
I don’t go on FB often, but when I do I never see anything on there about Israel. I never go on Twitter, but from what I’ve heard any mention of genocide is met with accusations of antisemitism and the conversation is shut down.
Yes because nobody is talking about the Palestine/Israel situation on any other social media platforms. /s
But are they?
I know they are on Fediverse sites, but is it really being discussed on Twitter and Facebook?
Why the flying fuck would anyone want a home automation system that isn’t voice controlled?
I don’t want a voice assistant controlled by Google, Amazon, or Apple… but I value it so much I’m willing to compromise until there’s a better option. This is a huge step in the right direction.
I setup my voice activated lights when my daughter was an infant. It was great being able to sit in a chair and rock her to sleep and be able to say “Google, it’s nap time” and have the lights properly adjust, and the fan turn on. I also use it in my office when I have a video call to adjust the lights so my camera looks better. I can also lock my door, adjust my HVAC, and play music without needing to stop doing whatever I’m busy with.
Same… must be getting a lot of love at the moment.
Increasingly more often Amazon is the publisher.
