Unpopular Opinion@lemmy.world•People who eat beef don't give a shit about climate changeEnglish
31·7 months agoThanks for not eating beef then! You’re saving the planet. It’s a bit cooler outside today, the effects of your sacrifice are already noticeable. What would we do without people like … oh wait, gotta go, my steak‘s almost done.
People said the same when Microsoft acquired GitHub. Didn’t happen then, won’t happen now.

Open Source@lemmy.ml•In September 2024, "Ty Coon" was replaced with "Moe Ghoul" in the official text file for GPL v2, without changing the version number or URL.

Programming@programming.dev•Am I crazy in thinking that bash is good enough for production?
1·1 year agoRight, that’s when you should look for a driver language that’s better suited for the job, e. g. Python.

Programming@programming.dev•Am I crazy in thinking that bash is good enough for production?
3·1 year agoEvery database I know comes with an SQL shell that takes commands from stdin and writes query results to stdout. Remember that “bash” never means bash alone, but all the command line tools from cut via jq to awk and beyond … so, that SQL shell would be what you call “bash library”.
