I’m very sympathetic to the crap waste people have to deal with but, yeah you can buy a dash cam at wal-mart. Please get that shit off your trucks. You can do it. I mean accidents happen you know. Cameras go missing all the time. I mean you are the waste management experts.

Don’t know if it’s these “AI cameras”, but my garbage company started uploading videos of my “violations” to their portal to justify charging me more (bin was open a few inches a couple times). They have video of them picking up the bin (showing my car plates and house in the back), and also of the bin contents from another camera after they dump it into the truck.

I can only assume they’re working on the “threw a non-recyclable item in recycle bin” logic so they can charge more protect the environment.

Makes sense though. There was trouble with people throwing hazardous waste into the green waste bins and then kids getting exposed to the material. Fuck those people.

To clock: to register on a mechanical recording device

Code violations: things about a property that do not meet standards according to local ordinances

Wow thank you lol. I’m a native English speaker but I never would have read that headline that way.

I was imagining some bizarre HoA rules that like, fined people for not updating their microwave for daylight savings time or something.

eh, code violations are a local government thing. If your town is a giant HOA then look in the mirror. Done properly code violations are serious things you do actually need to fix.

My city has them now. A friend of mine got flagged for overfilled bins. Before it only flagged you if the driver did, and the driver only would if it was egregious. The AI doesn’t GAF and reports fucking everything apparently.

Why don’t we use this surveillance to nail the big companies that are polluting to the wall? (Because we are ruled by the worst among us.)

Will they take a picture before or after the fuckers in the truck somehow manage to fling my cans into the drainage ditch again

They’ll take a pic afterwards and then fine you for polluting the runoff
