If everyone banded together and refused to ever take a plea deal, it would completely overwhelm our justice system and make it impossible not to enact reform.

The government literally doesn’t have the resources to take everyone they imprison to trial, and they need the private prisons filled. If they can’t fill the cots, private equity moves somewhere profitable.

Once theyre gone, they stop paying lobbyists, once there’s no prison lobbyists, no politician is really going to give a fuck.

But it’s literally a prisoner dilemma.

Quick question: where do the people awaiting trial go?

Short term prisoners (convicted or not) usually go to jail, prison is typically for people sentenced to more than a year.
