A bipartisan group of 45 attorneys general from 42 states, the District of Columbia, American Samoa, and the US Virgin Islands have asked Congress to pass the Senate’s Kids Online Safety Act (KOSA) censorship law, and make sure the bill’s duty of care provision is included.

Surely there has to be a breaking point right? I wonder if there could be some kind of workaround through Tor, maybe we’ll have to make a new internet with black jack and hookers, or maybe the populace will get complacent and we’ll be forced back into shopping malls to get our social interactions.

The only problem with a work around through Tor is going to be if the infrastructure in place can handle it. Think about how many people upload photos and videos to lemmy or mastodon, and how many concurrent connections there are. It’s doable but without more involvement in hosting Tor relays it would be slow.

If Tor became an even semi-popular way to maintain connection to ungated websites, I guarantee the relay count explodes.
