The King George SkyTrain Station in Surrey will close for six weeks for what TransLink is calling “essential maintenance” from April 27 until mid-June.
Expo Line service, which normally terminates at King George Station, will temporarily end at Surrey Central Station. There will be no trains running to or from King George Station.
TransLink said in a news release that components of the track that have been in use since it opened 30 years ago need replacing.
“A full station closure is required to complete these important upgrades as efficiently and safely as possible. Some of the work will include removing parts of the rail to replace a turnout [and] a mechanical device that guides trains from one track to another,” said the release.
Additional upgrade work on King George Station is planned during the closure, including improvements to the elevator.
