I like the McDonald’s breakfast sandwich with a scrambled egg, figured I’d try the Burger King one for the sake of comparison. But they wouldn’t do it with a scrambled egg. “We don’t do that”. I thought their whole shtick was “have it your way?” Guess not.

I get the croissant. The egg looks scrambled to me. Maybe it is frozen before but it definitely isn’t a fried egg.

Well, in fairness, “have it your way” is about toppings and combinations, not cooking methods. They also won’t throw a big meat into the fryer for you, or run fries through the broiler.

But if you asked for your breakfast sandwich with something that’s on the line, but not usually put on it, chances are high they’d do it. You’d be unlikely to get them to put something on that isn’t already available on the various stations though. Like, you ain’t getting an egg on your whopper because none of the eggs are at hand. They’d have to go get some out of the freezer. But if you wanted tartar sauce on it, chances are high that they would, though it might take a manager figuring out how to ring it up.

First, McDonalds isn’t scrambled, it’s a frozen folded piece of egg that they reheat. They do scramble d for their breakfast platters but that’s it.

Second, really doesn’t sound like you know how fast food works, and really all of it is just clever reuses of the same basic ingredients reheated in other ways. If you haven’t, some good life experience is to work fast food for a short time. You get to learn how horrible people are (and how asinine complaints like this are), while also learning what it’s like to work under a massive corporation.

As a former McDonald’s and Burger King employee I assure you that Burger King doesn’t have the fake totally real liquid egg you’re looking for. Both companies’ “eggs” are premade into the shapes you see and simply reheated; nobody’s cracking eggs in the kitchen.

But also, both companies are crazy unethical and cause unnecessary animal suffering so I’d recommend not frequenting either.

McDonald’s absolutely cracks eggs for the McMuffin.

For the scrambled egg they use liquid egg and cook it on the griddle. And the folded egg comes precooked and just reheated on the griddle.

Burger King doesn’t have griddles so they get it precooked and frozen.

Burger King used to have griddles. Worked it myself, long ago. Even served a breakfast platter of scrambled eggs and bacon, and making the eggs for the sandwiches was an art form to get it perfect. Probably when they went downhill in the 2000s they got rid of all that stuff. Just like when Pizza Hut went from actually mixing pan dough to frozen. Damn, that stuff was good.

I worked for them in the US for 10 years more recently then you looks like. They used to do cracked eggs, but I was there when they converted. Now they’re just frozen eggs in that shape that are steamed. Same as their “folded” egg this is called “round” egg. Looks exactly the same.

At least I didn’t have to wash those horrible circle things anymore

Never said impossible, there were difficult. Each egg had its own container, the device could do 8 at a time if I remember. Each one takes probably a full minute to scrape off all of the egg particles, and then you’d still have to scrub, rinse, and sanitize. That’s in addition the the hundred or so other dishes you have to do, and with the eggs needing to be cleaned between each use it would take significant amounts of time. Breakfast dishes was about a 2-2.5 hour task each morning, and those egg dishes were probably 45ish mminutes of that.

Ah right; I forgot to clarify I was using the “colloquial hyperbolic impossible”, not the “literal cannot be physically done in this realm of existence impossible”. I thought it would be clear from the “so impossible” qualifier, since there is no literal scale of impossibility; it is a binary state. Apologies for the confusion.

I’m in the US, where are you? They definitely do not crack eggs for the McMuffin, the eggs come wrapped and shaped already.

Colorado. They were doing it 20 years ago when I worked there and they still do it today.

The round egg on the McMuffin is fresh cracked. The folded egg is precooked and frozen.
