Thankfully, for work, we stayed ahead of the RAMpocalypse by replacing many older PCs that weren’t going to fully support 11 over 10. However, this year alone I’ve replaced only a couple devices and tried to save money by buying my own RAM to upgrade laptops, etc, and I might as well function with no budget, bc idk how else I’ll function.
I also chuckle and die inside at the and time while companies are pushing browser clients vs local install apps. I get it helps with version control and updates, but, its no less taxing with 50 browser tabs open vs a few application windows.
Windows 7= 1GB minimum, 2GB recommended (though I think that was x86/32-bit) so we’ll call it 2/4GB for x64/64-bit)
Windows 11= 16GB minimum with 32GB to function. It’s so ridiculous!!!
Even windows 8 or 8.1 was super debloated as they tried to slim down Windows to work on tablets that were ~2GB RAM. Bring that back at this point.

Windows 8 was decent once the 3rd party guys figured out how to fix the clusterfuck of a start menu/screen.
