What a disastrous month for US Americans! First Iran continues to hold Trump for the clown he is, then the execution of a criminal fails (huh?), then the government needs to beg for diesel fuel from G7, and finally the word “Trump” falls of the collapsing Kennedy Center. It’s a joke.

Pretty soon it will be cruel and unusual punishment to be sentenced to death row in Tennessee.
Capital punishment is already cruel and unusual punishment
Some people are not as enlightened but if they understood the cost of police misconduct and the cost to the tax payer they wouldn’t be all rah rah for that death penalty. Like they act as the mob does yet still unable to self preserve. We create our own pain as we are all a byproduct to our surroundings. Loops. poops and dupes. This is why I hate big tech. They create a false world.
Is it though? The framework to give out that kind of judicial analysis is based on historical evidence, and death sentences are far from being historically unusual or of particular cruelty (not all of them at least).
She lured, tortured and killed a teen; I really don’t see an argument where the sentence she received is unfair, or cruel. I think there is a strong argument against the death penalty when we know justice sometimes condemn innocents, but she’s not of those cases, she bragged of the murder and carried around a piece of her victim’s skull as a boast.
Just saying you right… have you looked into the grift that is our private prision system.
The average cost of a U.S. execution isn’t a single figure but stems from vastly more expensive capital cases, costing millions more than life imprisonment, with studies showing death penalty cases adding $1 million to $3 million in extra costs per case due to lengthy legal processes, expert witnesses, extensive appeals, and heightened security, not just the execution itself. While the direct execution supplies are relatively cheap (e.g., under $100 for lethal injection drugs), the legal and administrative burdens, including solitary confinement and extra staff, make each death penalty case significantly more expensive, sometimes up to ten times more than non-death penalty cases. https://legalknowledgebase.com/what-is-the-average-cost-of-a-us-execution
We pay for this shit.
Tao Te Ching Chapter 57
NO WAR BUT THE CLASS WAR
They kept her in solitary confinement for 32 years after she was already sentenced to death, then fucked up the lethal injection twice after she requested firing squad because she knew she had small veins. So she commits torture and murder, and the response is torture and murder?
That’s also ignoring the fact that lethal injection is incredibly painful and is essentially torture as well, they just paralyze the person first so they can’t show the distress before they die.
I think society needs to try something else before giving more people the death sentence. The American prison system is fucked up as all hell for one thing. The focus should be rehab, not punishment. Prison it’s not great around the world, but for profit prisons is especially fucked up.
But before prison, a lot of people that commit these crimes may not have if they had access to stable housing, parents that didn’t abuse them, better education, more social programs, better police, etc.
Like even in this case, the girl was mentally disabled because her mother smoke and drank during the pregnancy, and was abused physically and sexually her entire childhood. Maybe she wouldn’t have committed the murder if she wasn’t impaired from birth, or removed from a bad mother and looked after properly, or had mental health support. Or maybe the mother wouldn’t have been so bad if she had the support she needed to not be an alcoholic.
Continuing with the death sentence is saying “welp, we’ve tried nothing and we’re all out of ideas”.
I am against capital punishment in all forms. There are more humane ways to deal with people like this that removes them from society at large without murdering them.
I recognize there are people who have untreatable mental disorders that lead to things like psychopathy or the like but even then I feel we should work as a society to be above taking the lives of people as if that somehow rectifies the situation where they did the same to someone else.
I agree. Unfortunately most of US society has not caught up to that line of thinking.
The governor has put a stay on all executions until further notice.
