Facebook is still extremely popular in developing countries because the site is free regardless of whether or not you have a mobile internet data. But they don’t realise they are being manipulated by the social media to give them free information and to vote a certain way in elections that is against their own interest.

The cameras on poles are meant for public spaces and security. Meta glasses are for whatever the fuck the wearer will intend the recordings for for private use.

Hindsight is 20/20 but only few, if any, expected how big of a giant piece of shit Facebook will become and especially its founder. Most people thought it is just another fad, and expected it will go the way of most other social media sites at the time such as Friendster, Bebo and MySpace.

In my home country, an objectively better and progressive candidate was outvoted by the son of an ex-dictator by a landslide, because the said candidate is an old school progressive who still does the old-fashioned way of convincing voters, by going door to door and relying on legacy media, instead of presenting a brand of herself in social media like Mamdani does. That’s when I realised “yup, social media is now where the frontline is, whether we like it or not.”

I actually like using AI in my workplace to rid the need for tedious data entry. But i realised that if I told people about it, the management might see that they may not need me anymore so i won’t teach anyone how to efficiently use AI.

A lot of us are smart enough to recognise that socmed is vapid and shallow. But we’re not too bright to recognise that that is where people are at these days, no matter how dumb socmed is. Social media is the new plaza, like how radio, cinema and TV were during FDR’s time. As a matter of fact, the Nazis also recognised the potential power of radio. One of their early policies is to buy everyone a radio; so that the Nazis could control information. This is not different from today in which oligarchs and the far right also recognised the potential of socmed as a tool for control.

If you are in a secure job and happy with your position, sure. But for those of us either unemployed or looking to move to another company, this is a pain in the hole. I used to get more messages from recruiters or get invitations for interview.

Even college educated jobs are being off-shored. In my field, some companies are moving to India.

Even if one asset is not making money, there are profitable assets they could take money from to keep underperforming assets going because the latter has intangible value to the owner.
